Problem or Trouble with Lacie hard drives & NAS units
For the external firewire / sata usb drives, frequent problem or trouble we see is that the drive remains silent when powered up. Possibly smell of burning from the pcb / electronics board. There is no sound and it may shut down the computer it is connected to - ie not allow it to boot up. Alternatively for the NAS devices, data access and sometimes even console access is not possible - this often follows unexpected shut-down - power-off of the Ethernet disk. We have even recovered from Ethernet drives when formatted or had their share folders deleted or RAID lost.
